 At Diamonds In The Ruff, we are a preservation breeder devoted to the Boston Terrier and Shiba Inu breeds. Our program is carefully planned, and guided by the principles of health, temperament, structure, and breed type.  Alongside our small breeding program, we actively participate in AKC conformation and performance venues.

Preservation breeding means more than producing puppies—it means safeguarding the future of the breed. Every decision we make is rooted in quality, consistency, and integrity. Our breeding pairs are thoughtfully selected with the goal of producing dogs who exemplify correct structure, stable and confident temperaments, and excellent overall health. We believe in proving our breeding choices through show and performance work, and in placing our puppies responsibly, with lifelong support and guidance for every family who joins our extended Diamonds In The Ruff community.

All of our puppies are raised in our home and are integrated into daily life from the very beginning. We have four young children who play an active role in caring for and socializing our puppies and are beginning their own journey in AKC Junior Showmanship. This environment provides early, meaningful exposure to people, handling, and everyday experiences, helping our puppies develop resilience, confidence, and strong human bonds.

 Many of our dogs are actively shown in AKC conformation, and we also participate in performance and companion events such as Rally, Obedience, FastCAT, Canine Good Citizen, Trick Dog, and therapy or service-related work. This well-rounded approach ensures our dogs are intelligent, trainable, and capable partners—whether in the show ring, in sport, or as cherished family companions.

Health and temperament are foundational to everything we do. All of our puppies are AKC registered, microchipped with free lifetime registration, and receive age-appropriate vaccinations and deworming. Each puppy goes home with a 36-month health guarantee and is raised with transparency, education, and ongoing breeder support. We believe that responsible breeding does not end when a puppy goes home—it is a lifelong commitment.

We adhere strictly to AKC and BTCA breed standards and ethical breeding practices. Our Boston Terriers are produced only in standard colors and correct size, typically ranging from 12 to 20 pounds and never exceeding 25 pounds. We do not breed non-standard or “colored” Boston Terriers, mixed or designer breeds. Preservation means protecting the breed—not altering it to follow trends.

• OFA CAER.  (Yearly)
• OFA BAER.
• OFA Patellar Luxation. 
• OFA Cardiac. 
• OFA RFGS/BOAS.
• 2x  per Year Vet Well Check.

Health Tests We Do on Our Shiba Inus:

•  Embark: GM1 Gangliosidosis-Shiba Inu, DM, HUU,  rcd4-PRA, vWD Type 1. 
• OFA CAER.  (Yearly)
• OFA Hips or PennHips
• OFA Patellar Luxation. 
• OFA Cardiac. 
• 2x  per Year Vet Well Check.

The temperament of the Boston Terrier you are going to get is of the utmost importance because that will determine your bond, attachment, and love for him/her. 

Our breeding program is designed to produce Boston Terriers and Shiba Inus  that are healthy, happy, and well-adjusted. We carefully select our breeding pairs based on a variety of factors, including health, temperament, pedigree, and conformation.
